Good Evening,
We have had a lot of fun since the last update was sent! I honestly don't know what I haven't shared at this point, so I am sorry if I repeat myself! Spring Bingo! Spring Bingo is this Friday. I am looking forward to seeing so many of you there! If you need to buy your tickets, HURRY UP, they only have about 50 left! I will attach a picture of the order form to this e-mail. Send it in tomorrow if you want to go! Rock Stars are WINNERS Rock Stars tend to be VERY competitive in nature, and we won a few things we must share! We won the Tropical Trek pizza party for 100% participation in the Trek. (I was able to donate for the couple of parents who did not participate.) We will have that pizza party on May 11th, after the End of Year test to celebrate a great job!!Each month Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Miranda look at the i-Ready data. There are two things they look at, % of students that did 45 minutes a week, and the overall pass %. We have won for first grade the past two months. A couple of weeks ago, we had Oreos for snack in the morning, and a fun party at the park with popsicles, courtesy of the $15 gift card we won. They still have another gift card to spend, and we will vote on it soon! Pen-Pal Letters Today we sent letters to our pen-pals, we told them all about our favorite things. You can see a copy of their letters on the bulletin board outside of our classroom. Feel free to check it out! You will receive all of their letters at the end of the year to hold on to. 😊 I LOVE looking back and seeing the progress they have made so far this year! Food Trucks We had such an amazing time! Can you believe 15 out of 21 Rock Stars were there! That is amazing! I am looking forward to doing it again soon. Thank you so much for bringing your children there. I loved seeing them play together. Shout Outs! Shout out Dawn, Ryker's Mom, for making those super FUN St. Patrick's Day joke books and sweet treats! Shout out to Mrs. Smiley, Penny's grandmother, for coming in and teaching the kids all about germs and bacteria. It was an awesome lesson, and I hope they showed you the bacteria they created! Shout out to Alicia, Gabriel's mother, for helping me out with treasure box, and for giving your kids extra love on Friday mornings. Yearbooks Yearbooks are $35. If you want one, please send in cash or a check payable to Tropical Elementary School. Please make sure to include your child's name and my name on the envelope. I have submitted a lot of pictures, so you will see your little one in it. NO PROMISES, but if I have time this summer I may work on a class yearbook. If I do, I will let you all know. Home Run The next 14 days we will be preparing for the end of the year test. We will practice all comprehension skills learned this year, and of course, have fun doing so! After the test, which has been changed to May 7th and 8th, I will give your children the last BAS assessment and they will also take their final i-Ready assessment. I will share those items with you, and if you would like a conference to discuss, a Sign-Up-Genius link will be shared as well to sign up. Pictures We take LOTS of pictures, and you can see them on Shutterfly. Check them out! 😊 https://mrsegansrockstarreaders.shutterfly.com Last up... Anyone have any rhyming skills? Does anyone want to help me create a song to perform at our last Poetry Theatre? I know what I want to do, but I have yet to finish it. Ahhh. The song I want to do is by Portugal the Man. I want it to revolve around reading or the summer... The kids love this song!! Here are the original lyrics, the ones I made up in bold, anyone want to help me finish, pretty please? Can't keep my hands to myself Can't keep my books to myself Think I'll dust 'em off, put 'em back up on the shelf Think I'll dust 'em off, get 'em off of that shelf In case my little baby girl is in need In case my friend wants to read Am I coming out of left field? Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now I been feeling it since 1966, now Might be over now, but I feel it still Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now Let me kick it like it's 1986, now Might be over now, but I feel it still Got another mouth to feed Leave her with a baby sitter, mama, call the grave digger Gone with the fallen leaves Am I coming out of left field? Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now I been feeling it since 1966, now Might've had your fill, but you feel it still Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now Let me kick it like it's 1986, now Might be over now, but I feel it still We could fight a war for peace (Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now) Give in to that easy living Goodbye to my hopes and dreams Stop flipping for my enemies We could wave until the walls come down (Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now) It's time to give a little tip Kids in the middle, move over 'til it falls Don't bother me Is it coming? Summer's coming! Is it coming? Summer's coming! Is it coming? Summer's coming! Is it coming? Summer's coming! Is it coming? Summer's coming! Is it coming back? Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, yeah Your love is an abyss for my heart to eclipse, now Might be over now, but I feel it still Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now I've been feeling it since 1966, now Might be over now, but I feel it still Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now Let me kick it like it's 1986, now Might be over now, but I feel it still Might've had your fill, but you feel it still Have a good one!
