Good Morning,
I have so much to tell all of you since the last time I sent a "Rock Star Update" e-mail. Welcome, Julia! First, I would like to welcome Julia, and her lovely family to our country and our school. They recently moved here from Brazil, and Julia has made our Rock Star family complete. We are so thankful she is in our class. We look forward to spending the remainder of the year with her. You can see pictures of her with the class on Shutterfly. She started with us last Thursday, March 8th. SWAY Last week, the Rock Stars were treated to a guest teacher. Ms. Kellier, a Teacher Technology Specialist with the Innovative Learning and Arts Department of Broward County Public Schools, was a guest teacher and taught them how to turn their animal research projects into a SWAY. SWAY is pretty awesome, please ask your Rock Star to share it with you if they have not already. Every single day I am amazed with what YOUR children can do! Tropical Trek We raised $1499.22! That is AMAZING! I was able to donate for those students that did not participate, and I am hoping that we are the first grade class selected to win a pizza party! Any class with 100% participation received a chance to win a pizza party. CROSS YOUR FINGERS! We will find out soon. Thank you all for contributing! 3rd Grade End of Quarter i-Ready Movie Party The PTA has sponsored a party for our students that have averaged at least 45 minutes a week of i-Ready for the last quarter. This party will be on 3/22. I hope all of our students will attend. i-Ready is your child's homework, so if they are doing their homework, they should meet the criteria. Monthly School Wide i-Ready Incentive Mrs Miranda and Mr. Anderson reward one class per grade level a month for the highest scores on i-Ready. That means your Rock Star takes it seriously, and does their best. We won it this past month, and received a $15 gift card. We have not discussed what we will use it for yet, but we are excited for the extra treat! Hands on Science/STEM Every other week Mrs. McCarty and I get both classes together for some hands on Science FUN. Check out the pictures on our photo website, and ask your Rock Star all about it. End of the Year Test The End of the Year Reading Test is scheduled for May 8th and May 9th. Please make sure you are reading nightly and asking them questions as they are reading. This test is a criteria for promotion to Second Grade. I have added Reading Comprehension resources to my website, so you can help at home. There are on-level and above-level passages and questions. http://1egan.weebly.com/reading-comprehension-passages.html OFF! I am taking my first days off this year! I will be off Thursday-Monday. Your Rock Stars will be in GREAT hands. Please do not call or text me Thursday-Monday. You may e-mail me, but I will not respond until Tuesday. If you need to reach Ms. Michelle or Mrs. Franny to inform them of a dismissal change, please call the office. Have an AMAZING week and weekend!
