Happy Tuesday!
I hope you have had a great week so far! I have a few great things to share with you. Just Say No to Drugs Week Say No to Drugs Week begins tomorrow at Tropical. Here is the run down: Tomorrow, Wednesday, 10/25- Red Day (Wear RED) 10/26- Sock it to Drugs Day (Wear crazy socks) 10/27- Team Up Against Drugs (Wear your favorite team's jersey or shirt) 10/30- Turn Your Back Against Drugs (Wear your shirt backwards) Fall Festival Fall Festival is Tuesday, 10/31. I have only received half of the envelopes back with the room parent collection money for the year, so we will not have pizza at this party. Alicia and I have to stretch what we are working with to cover all parties for the year. Tomorrow I will send forms home again. Please fill out the form and send back ASAP. This covers ALL parties, ALL YEAR. Treasure Box Toys Thanks to those of you have sent in your goodies. I appreciate it!!! Fun in Room 132 You know we have fun while we learn in room 132. Here are a few fun things we are working on: --FlipGrid Please be patient with us as we are learning how to use technology. In a nutshell, I give the students something to respond to, or share, and they record themselves sharing. I brought in two old iPhones and an iPad to make this possible. If anyone has an extra iPhone charger laying around we would definitely appreciate it. Those old iPhones don't have the best batteries! This is neat because it gives all 20 Rock Stars time to share their work and also work on their speaking and listening standards, which are difficult to teach. You can click this link and learn about a few of our topics from the week. LINK REMOVED FOR PRIVACY REASONS. CHECK YOUR E-MAIL, OR LOG INTO SHUTTERFLY, THE LINK IS ALSO THERE. The kids LOVE it, because they love to share, and also they get to make a silly selfie when they are finished! --Rock Stars go GLOBAL We are going to take over the world one day, but for now, we will just try to see it all and talk to people all over the world! We have a world map in our classroom, where we are marking our connections, however we made one to share with you, too! Click here to see our connections so far this year. You can also access the map on our website. :) --i-Ready The challenge is on. Your child should be going on i-Ready nightly for a minimum of 15 minutes, that is their homework. However, the Rock Stars are competing against each other, and the completion is getting fierce. There are some great prizes to be won, and I am excited for all of them! If you have trouble accessing i-Ready, please let me know. I am willing to stay with your child before or after school if they cannot get to the library. Thanks for reading, and I hope you take some time to check out FlipGrid. Your kids are really proud of themselves, and obviously I am so proud of them, too!!!
