Questions to Ask After Reading
- Tell the important things that happened in the story (or text). (fiction and nonfiction)

- What lesson does the main character learn in the story? (fiction)
- How does this lesson make you think about what you can do in your own life? (fiction)
- How does the writer organize the information in the book? (Example: The author includes headings to separate the information about topics. Under each heading, the writer compares how…)(nonfiction)
- Tell what big ideas you learned from this book. (fiction and nonfiction)
- What do you notice about how the writer tells the story? (Example: The writer uses different kinds of writing to tell the story, including letters and journals). (fiction)
